About Me

I qualified as a Five Element acupuncturist from the College of Traditional Acupuncture (CTA), Leamington Spa, in 2006, graduating with a Lic.Ac. and BA (Hons). I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).

Over the past twenty years, my work has taken me to England, Norway, Scotland and, most recently, Singapore. I’ve worked in private practice, multidisciplinary clinics, and more recently as a mentor and supervisor within an international practitioner training programme. Living and working in different countries has been a privilege, continually reminding me that while people may arrive with similar symptoms, every person’s experience of health, illness and healing is entirely their own.

Five Element acupuncture has been the thread running through my career from the very beginning. Earlier in my practice I worked extensively in fertility and women’s health, and although I continue to welcome people seeking support in these areas, my work has gradually evolved as my understanding of health has deepened.

When I moved to Singapore, local licensing regulations meant I was no longer able to build the kind of acupuncture practice I had previously enjoyed. The change unexpectedly created space for a different kind of professional growth. Alongside working online, I immersed myself in further study, exploring the relationship between the nervous system, our life experiences, compassion and physical health. During this time I trained in Compassionate Inquiry with Dr Gabor Maté, Root Cause Practice with Tracey Stevens, and began my ongoing professional training in SomaWise with Luke Sniewski. I also became a mentor and supervisor, supporting other practitioners in developing both their clinical skills and their capacity to work with presence, curiosity and compassion.

Those years didn’t take me away from acupuncture; they brought me back to it with fresh eyes. They deepened my appreciation of the complexity of pain and illness, and reinforced something that Five Element acupuncture has always understood: that to truly help someone, we need to listen beyond the symptoms. I’m interested not only in what someone is experiencing, but how they make sense of it, how it has shaped their life, and how their own beliefs, experiences and relationships may influence their health and wellbeing.

Today my work brings together the wisdom of Five Element acupuncture with contemporary understanding of persistent pain, nervous system health, mindfulness and compassionate inquiry. I’m particularly interested in supporting people living with persistent pain and chronic health conditions. Inspired by the work of Dr Rachel Zoffness and developments in modern pain science, I’m fascinated by how understanding pain differently can begin to change our relationship with it. While we can’t always remove every symptom, we can often reduce suffering, restore a sense of possibility, and help people reconnect with the parts of life that matter most.

I also enjoy working with children, offering gentle paediatric acupuncture where appropriate.

Above all, I hope to offer a space where people feel safe enough to slow down, feel genuinely listened to, and become curious about their own experience. In my experience, healing rarely comes from someone fixing us. More often, it begins when we’re met with compassion, when our story is heard without judgement, and when we’re supported to rediscover our own capacity for health, resilience and wholeness.

Outside the clinic, I’m married and a mum to four wonderful children. After five enriching years living in Singapore, I’m delighted to be returning home to Aberdeen and look forward to welcoming people into my practice.
